Inmate Voices

This section is dedicated to giving voices to those that have never had the opportunity to speak to the world. Some of the voices are from inmates, some are from people released from prison, and others may be relatives or members of a personal support system. All contributions are voluntary and hopefully most will center on spirituality or whatever the author considered the most traumatic event or events that lead up to or surrounded her/his prison experience.

There are many organizations and individuals that have made great efforts to give prisoners voice in one area or another. Kay Lee has a program called Making the Walls Transparent where she catalogues and shines the light on assorted irregularities within the department of corrections in the state of Florida. The Prison Dharma Network lists articles that focus on the Dharma in prisons across the country. There are many other groups that focus on the 10,000 this and that’s of prisons which can be accessed through either of the above two sites. This is not an attempt to duplicate but to compliment those efforts.

Editorial note: The articles posted in this section appeared as originally submitted; content has, however, been formatted to meet Web site's specifications.
