Dead Sea of Dreams
By Ellis Matthews

Here lies a place of utter desolation. It's courses have never been charted. Nor has it's depths been explored.

Have you not heard of this place?

Would it surprise you to know that you are partly to blame for it's very existance?

There are no living things in this sea.

These waters are contaminated from the tears of grief, stricken mother's and the blood from the so called soldiers, who went down at the very hands of'someone like you and I.

One can hear the mornful cries of those who fought and died in a battle they could never win. These are the soldiers who fought for a dream that could never come true.

(the so called American Dream)

Some dreams are only dreams, they never come true, yet they give pleasure to the sleeper.

This sea was not created by the creator.

But by man through his many dastardly deeds. Motivated by hate, fuled by selfishness. Overcome by greed.

Man has embarked on a quest to become king and ruler of his own kingdom.

Therefore destroying the very people who made him who he is. What kind of medal does one hope to achieve for such deeds as these?

How many more lives must be taken?

How many homes will be destroyed? Have we no thought for the mothers who we send to an early grave, from a life of misery, sorrow and pain? What of the soldiers of our tomorrows, who have been left without a leader How many of us are guilty of standing in the way of our mother's prayers?

Why can't we work in accord with the prayers of those who love us?

The waves of this sea carry the voices of those who went down blinded by the illusion that riches and glory would be theirs. These waves crash on to the beaches of self destruction, misery and ruin.

Not one body has ever been recovered from these waters.

No one willingly visits this place. Why have a people so beautiful and of such creative capabilities taken it upon themselves to exterminate their own race?

What commander of any honor would destroy his own men in hostile territory?

Is this not what we do,when we knowingly take the lives of one of our own brothers or sisters? Is it not hostile territory that you live in?

Would I be safe in saying that you and I are both guilty of such atrocities as these?

Up and down the shores of this sea one will find

Murder, despair, disease, deception, ignorance and a lack of love.

What's so sad about these soldiers, is they were never a part of any mans army.

There's no recognition for a person like this.

There will never be any flowers placed on these graves. Nor will the raging waters of the Dead Sea ever be calm.
